The Art of Graphite and Limestone

A native of New Orleans, a town rich in art and culture. Art has been a part of Patrick’s life since childhood. It was not long until Patrick found himself teaching art in seminars throughout the United States, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

Patrick has pushed his art to a level that he lovingly calls Figurative romanticism. As the only living artist maintaining this style in graphite and limestone, He plans to preserve the newly developed style for generations to come.
Patrick began his career in New Orleans, where as a child he was exposed to many forms of art. From the old masters, to contemporary expressionism. He later migrated to Europe, where he taught various American art techniques, only to find himself in the company of today's finest European artists. Patrick began a journey of growth and understanding that would change his life. This experience took Patrick to new heights, that to this day, has continued to evolve into an artform unique only to Patrick.
The pieces are more expressions of an emotion, and the telling of a story than anything else. “I try to keep the rhythm of the piece simple, in order to maintain a core feeling that resonates with a familiar emotion”.
Today, Patrick is the only living artist to transfigure graphite, limestone, and his own formula of binding agents to create a truly magnificent impasto relief figurative form.. It is his hope that the art that flows through his hands into the world, and will touch and inspire people of all walks of life for generations to come.

The graphites are almost all completed on Birch or 800lb hand pressed paper using natural graphite block and natural limestone with layers of oil interlacing them. I do this because of longevity. These will also be around for centuries, and probably studied by myiads of artist around the world peering into the past, to get a glimps of art and artists philosophies. Imagine , these pieces surviving wars, famine, natural disasters, and time itself. There are few things that are preserved throughout history as well as art. And for good reason. Art tells the story of how civilization is defined at the time the artist created the piece

Patrick owned galleries, and wholesaled volumes of pieces to other galleries throughout the world. But is now laser focused on making the art much more exclusive.

In an interview with Art Business News, Patrick was quoted as saying that he is no longer in it for the money, as he has higher goals such as creating a movement in the art world, a true style that will forever be understudied and carried on through the ages.

Patrick explains further in the interview;
My art for the most part tells stories of the human experience. I paint about the underlying raw emotion that comes from feeling loved, enriched, fulfilled, and to the other extreme of  abandoned, alone, torn, and misunderstood. These are feelings are what makes us human, and we all must learn to grow from dealing with these experiences. Some, however, do not. The power of these emotions can overwhelm some of us, and yet, it can give enormous strength to others. The way we deal with these experiences is exactly what I am painting. This is probably the most difficult thing to explain in a verbal sense, therefore, I say to you,
where words end,
 art begins.

Now Patrick spends his time painting large format originals in his signature figurative romanticism style.
